Does Highland serve Fair Trade coffee? My wife and I went once and found it decent, but we haven’t been back because we couldn’t confirm that it was free trade.

It would be great if Mayorga were to open up in the spot where Talianos used to be on Carroll Avenue. That place has been vacant for quite some time and the restaurant planned for there by Gillian Clark (owner of the Post Office and formerly of the Colorado Kitchen) has not panned out. Or the space that was formerly Savory could use another tenant.

I would love it if Mark’s Kitchen opened up a place here. And my apologies for the frying implications. I should know better. I actually tend to order vegetarian stuff at Mark’s Kitchen just because they do such a good job at it.

Best of luck to them, but Restaurants don’t do too hot over there. Savoy Cafe recently closed and the restaurant space across from Mark’s Cafe has been empty forever.

Sir, speaking as a vegan, I take umbrage at your suggestion that vegans be fried. We vegans care about our health and recommend steaming us lightly instead.

You know what would be nice? If Mark’s Kitchen moved into DTSS.

Good riddance I say. I like Mayorga coffee, really I do, but it stopped being worth it to me a while ago to go to that location and put up with really bad service, even worse music (and I’m a musician my trade, I give a lot of leeway for artistic license), and parking that’s inconvenient at best (though I usually walked.) And don’t even get me started about the whole “bar” debacle they tried to pull off. Gah.

Thanks for the post. I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn’t think Mayorga was all that special. I was never impressed by it, then made the mistake of taking part in their Sunday brunch.

I do, however, mourn the passing of any SS business. Sigh.
