One of the problems is that retail as a whole is pretty dead lately. This just makes Shitty Place all the more shitty. I see more and more people at Marshall’s grabbing the few rare good items left leaving a mountain of crap for others to dig though. So I have not been back lately. On a side note DTSS really needs an Elevation Burger to open and are people really going to the doughnut store? Its always empty when i walk by.

I saw gelato in the pictured case, on Saturday. I didn’t get any. I was focused on the redesign of that whole section of the store. It used to be noisy, and the workers were separated from the customers by a fortress of a counter. And the smoothie equipment sounded like a leaf blower. Sat. evening, all was calm, got my coffee…seating has been greatly increased. Also, Whole Foods has posted rules about the seating area that should go a long way toward ensuring that someone who buys something to eat will be able to sit down and do so. PS, I never call it Whole Paycheck. The store has better prices on some brands, such as Stonyfield Farm, than any other store I’ve seen. And much of their house brand stuff is very well priced.

I still miss the Lechter’s store, got great kitchen stuff there. But far more, I miss the Hecht’s that was originally there. I truly, deeply miss Hecht’s and Woodward & Lothrop. Macy’s ain’t that great, but it is all we have left of the middle-class department store era. Is there any chance Macy’s could set up shop there? If the building were mostly one store, the noise problem would be largely solved. All those open spaces, hard surfaces and noisy kids — yikes!

I sometimes go to get my haircut at the Hair Cuttery in Shitty Place and my haircut is fine. I wish that they never put that obnoxious advertising girdle around the front of the building. The bare walls are so much more tasteful.

I agree that Kefa would be less expensive, but they’re only open until 5:00 (later on Friday). A bit prohibitive for a post-dinner treat, though I have gotten it there for breakfast.

hah, i find it amusing that i’m not the only person who refers to that dump as “shitty place.” there are a few places worth visiting in there (marshalls, the beauty supply, taste of morocco), but as a whole, they should just blow it up and do something useful with that space… like a large toilet.

as for gelato, there’s some at kefa café on bonifant, which is pretty tasty and probably will be a lot less expensive & taxing than having to go to whole foods.
