Putting in deisel requires a lot of digging to put the tanks in, which means an environmental assessment. And it’s guaranteed to not be a pretty result given that a gas station has been there for 50-plus years. The cleanup costs would be crippling for a small business owner. So, don’t hold your breath.

That would be a serious score. The Exxon at the corner of East-West Highway and Colesville (the closest I know of) is a pain to get through and overpriced. Keep an eye out for TDIs and loud Mercedes sedans and stop them to sign the petition, I suppose.

Soco is right – SNOW & ICE clearing on that corner would do a lot for community relations as would down-lighting (not CE3K-like flood lights), and some nice, healthy green things in those pump-side planters.

I will be curious to see if the new folks at the Thayer Exxon clean their sidewalks after snow storms. The old owners NEVER did. I’ll hope for the best. But for a great and honest mechanic, go to the Bonifant Citgo. Nani is great. You won’t be disappointed. And he is thinking about doing pay-at-the-pump. But it’s quite costly to change.

I’m glad to see the corner not look so ghetto anymore. Only problem now is that all the outdoor lights are WAY too bright for those of us living in SS Towers.
