Another (Bittersweet) Retail Move

Golf Etc Moving

No, the shelves coming down doesn’t mean they’re going out of business. But my beloved Golf, Etc. is moving to Rockville. While, sadly, I won’t be able to walk to an indoor driving range, this means financial sustainability for Donnie, Pops, and the Gang. Parking was a bit tedious, the rent was higher than most other available places, and the nearby golf course is about to close. Pops said it’s all about getting the expense and revenue equation right. Can’t agree more.

Fractured Prune MenuThe plan is to reopen late next week near the intersection of MD355 and Redland Road (15815 Frederick Avenue), and they’ll be going by a new name: Caddie Master Golf Service Center (www.caddiemastergsc.com). I work up that direction and will certainly be visiting them again. Best of luck.

About those donuts…
I couldn’t help but stop and drool at the menu poster at the future site of Fractured Prune. They all look really good, but I have to say it’s gonna be tough to beat the classic Krispy Kreme glazed donut fresh out of the hopper.

    And the hits keep coming.

I know, right? This has been a news-filled blogging week, for sure.

The Fractured Prune is AMAZING. From my experiences, all of them are made to order and are piping hot when you get them. :)

Fractured Prune’s donuts aren’t ALWAYS fresh out of the fryer, but when they are they blow Krispy Kreme away. They are really rich, though. I tend to stick with the O.C. Sand — which is basically a cinnamon sugar donut.

I’m hoping, though not expecting, that the Fractured Prune will make donuts similar to the “old fashioned”-style donuts sold by Top Pot in Seattle. Eating one of those actually fills you up.

I actually like the look of those better than FP’s.

One FP donut IS a meal.

BTW why only focus on negative? – several openings at same time as these closings – change = life.

There was a post on the opening of the new consignment shop, and the still-coming-soon Fractured Prune–what other openings are we missing?

What about all the ones in the former burned-out building across from Discovery on Colesville?

You want new? Besides, FP, consignment store, two new Greek places, new Nicaro + its replacement?
A new 7-11 opens any day now (if not open already – wasn’t as of last Friday when I went by) on Colesville by McD and business USPS.

NEW Pizza Joint sign is posted on top of old Georgia Blue – hope that means opening is soon-ish.
