It’s Not Just ESSCA Anymore

There’s a revolution going on! Alert reader Mike sent in a link to Marc Fisher’s Wednesday column that I totally missed. And after likening ESSCA to the Soviet Nomenklatura on this blog, here’s the headline: (wait for it… wait for it…)

The Iron Fist Of Cleveland Park’s Politburo

Der Soviet Politburo

Are you kidding me? This is AWESOME! The entire board is threatened with replacement, and they enact an emergency to postpone the elections? I really didn’t want to run for an ESSCA leadership position anymore, but I think now I do. This would be beautiful. And I could see ESSCA doing the exact same thing.

The last paragraph of Marc’s column simply says this:

This one’s far from over, but when the NIMBYs start waging their battles through Soviet means, it can’t be long before the forces of progress prevail.

Have a great weekend, folks!

You better be cautious or you will be purged to whatever the local equivalent of Siberia is. (Burtonsville?)

I prefer to think of this as Benjamin Linus doing the “out with the old, in with the new” thing on the island. That’s refershing, don’t you think?

I love it, get a few yahoos out of the board and see what happens.

When one of the speakers discussed actions to have walks in town to identify “historic” properties in Silver Spring it absolutely killed me, particularly since there didn’t appear to be any set of selection criteria and as an outsider, the activity appeared 100% arbitrary, designed to throw off development.

There is such an inherent bias to the discussions and vocal participants… Focusing on measures to promote anti-growth and keep things the same. Maybe it’s reflective of the age demographic of participants? Who knows…

I’d totally be down to get more folks involved just to demonstrate that another voice in the community that’s currently underrepresented.

comrade, you must rise and reeducate them. Siberia is a great location for that. I can recommend a few nice getaway spots LOL. everyone wants to be like mother country! So, are we going to have something like an orange revolution they had in Georgia? I propose a purple revolution.

I didn’t mean to sound so mysterious… I created 9another) yahoo groups for anyone who wants to try to take a crack at ‘voter registration’ for next May’s ESSCA elections. Just think, a whole year to get ready. YES WE CAN.

Sprungion (via twitter) has a great post:

“ESSCA seeks historic designation to preserve current officers.”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
